Do you find yourself easily distracted while working? From phone ringing, (e)meetings to cooping between different tasks, there is always something that can disrupt your workflow. Especially if you're working from home which requires even stronger attention to cope with the intensity of workflow. However, while dealing with work (no matter what kind or type), we easily forget about those little (yet most) important things - to eat, stretch, and most importantly - drink water. Drinking enough water makes you focus better, makes your brain function faster and keeps you awake & energized. We’re all aware of the importance of hydration (if not – make sure to see all the reasons, why you should be chugging down the next sip of water HERE), yet we still easily forget to meet our daily quota. So what can you do to encourage hydration in your workplace and get back to work re-energized? Tips to keep your kids hydrated

Did you know that children are at a greater risk of dehydration than adults? In relation to grown-ups, children have a larger proportion of their skin available to lose sweat and be exposed to heat (especially during hot summer days). So by the time children start experiencing thirst, they're already at least 3% dehydrated, and water does far more than quench thirst. Water is a cooling mechanism, it transports fluids and nutrients, improves digestion, helps with cognitive function and maintains a healthy weight (more reasons about the importance of water can be found HERE). That's why you shouldn't wait for your kids to tell you they're thirsty before offering them water. Especially because children don't always recognize immediately that they're thirsty as they're usually too busy having fun :) Photo: lilihalodecoration    Signs and symptoms that your child is (becoming) dehydrated There are a lot of symptoms of dehydration, yet, the easiest way to tell if your child is hydrated is by the frequency of bathroom breaks or wet nappies they have (pay attention to decreased urine output!). Other symptoms might be:   - Thirst - Headaches - Poor concentration - Dry or cracked lips/mouth - Constipation - Increased heart rate or low blood pressure - Dark, strong and concentrated urine or - Mood changes (tired, sleepy, irritable).   Therefore, you should offer them water and other hydrating beverages and food throughout the whole day. Below we list a few simple tricks that will protect your child and allow him to enjoy the playground and school time healthy & active.  Photo: lilihalodecoration   Top three tips & tricks for keeping your kids hydrated all year long 1 Educate your child. Let your little one know about water and the fact that our bodies are made up of approximately 70% of water. Also, they should know the recommended amount of water for them to have is at least 4-6 glasses of water per day.  2 Make their beverage tasty but healthy. Not all kids like to drink plain water. So, play around with it. Make it tasty and colorful by adding different pieces of fruit and herbs in their water. Creating homemade fruit and veggie smoothies is also a great way to add more fluids to your child's body. Needless to say, it's quite fun making them together :)  3 Get a cute water bottle for them. Encourage them to carry their water bottle with them at all times. Have a healthy BPA free and clean water bottle for your kid that will be always full and accessible to them. To make it more fun, let your kids pick out their own water bottle in their favorite color or decorated with their favorite characters (see the whole selection in our online store). This way they'll be more motivated and keen to take it everywhere with them. To keep their hydration at top of the game, pay special attention to hydration before, after, and during their physical activity (whether its sports or ordinary playtime). And never forget that you are a role model for them – so the way you take care of your hydration will always influence them first. It's not always easy to stay on track with everything the little ones are up to, especially when we're not around them. Living fast and coping with busy schedules, we often end up eating more of what’s convenient, rather than what's good for our bodies. We crave to please our taste buds, yet remain unaware of the health hazards that this style of eating might give us.   ''The best diet is the one that combines two attributes: foods which contain all nutrients essential for our body functions and the ones that boost our mood.''   It is of most importance to practice balanced diet, to stay hydrated and reach for the right nutrients in order to stay healthy and full of energy. And our culinary expert Ayatana is now sharing her story on how she started her journey to healthy dining and revealing her tips to a balanced diet. Meet Aleksandra, the founder of Ayatana Your interest in health goes back to your roots. When did you realize you want to become a gourmet expert and why?It came naturally and it wasn't strategically planned per se. I've always enjoyed spending time in the kitchen, either cooking or baking. Some of my first memories from the time I was very young are actually from the kitchen and I suppose I've been always interested in food. I started discovering plant-based food when I was faced with my health problems in my mid-twenties. This was a breaking point and from there onwards, everything changed in my life. I started focusing more on food in sense not just as something we eat but also as something that really fulfills our bodies. I decided to learn from the best, did my first online course and later onsite experience with Matthew Kenney Culinary Academy team and got a license from this amazing culinary school. Then I combined this with my love for cooking and voila, it happened.  .What do you want to communicate with the chosen branch of culinary? My intentions are not transforming people into vegans or trying to convince them that only plant-based lifestyle is the one that matters. I’d really like to introduce a plant-based food and a plant-based lifestyle as something interesting, different and really tasteful. I strongly believe that my role is in teaching people how to prepare nutritious, colorful, simple and fast plan-based plates. I thrive when I can show people how to add more vegetables and fruits in their diets. If someone decides to go vegan, great, if not that's ok too. Of course, I think as a society we have to pay more attention to the environment and protect animals. I guess once you start paying more attention to how and what you eat, this sensitivity organically enters your life without you even noticing it sometimes. What does the term balanced diet mean to you and how to achieve one? For me, a balanced diet is definitely structured from all the nutrients our bodies need to function well: proteins, vegetables, fruit, carbs, and fat. Among these, I always tend to choose wholesome ingredients which fill my body with vitamins, minerals, fibers & everything my body needs to stay strong and alive. I strongly believe the best diet is the one that combines two parts: getting all the needed nutrients in our bodies and the one that makes us feel good. This is why I never feel bad or guilty after eating a plant-based cake or some comfort food.  . How do you integrate drinking water into your daily routine? I find summer time much easier to drink water or rather I get reminded to drink more water due to higher temperatures. Drinking enough did not come naturally for me to be honest, I had to learn how to "track" thirstiness. What really helped me was the moment I started adding "extras" to my warm water, like lemon, ginger, turmeric, different herbs, and spices. Especially now in winter months. The most essential nutrient is water, which maintains blood circulation throughout your body and carries the heat away from your internal organs.  .
